While I sit here with a strong cup of coffee, listening to the instrumental versions of new song idea’s for the next Dead Guitars album, I’ve found some time to write to you again. No written words to you means that I’m fine, or very busy. Writing to you means that something’s going to happen soon or that I’m bored :-)
I hope you are fine yourselves and that you have a fine place while the fall is falling in, leaves are changing colours and the darkness settles in. The same dark days that surround us, let us know that Christmas is waiting behind the closed door, but for me it is the most important part of the year to be creative. It’s not my dark soul who sings "I’m only happy when it rains" It’s just me a melancholic "drama queen" at his best. :-)
So, as I said before, Dead Guitars are working on album number 3! Ralf is busy recording basic tracks, I am listening to the demos and putting down vocal melody ideas over it. It’s this technology that make things more easy for us. Soon we will come together to work it out together and let the real emotions flow in the rehearsal room, believe me, that’s the best part! The rest is about getting record deals, or not, how many cd’s will be necessary to press, will we recoup or have to pay for it out of our own pockets. We always try to keep that part away from the band as far as we can, but hey, not always possible. It’s the same technology that kills a lot of music & bands too. Don’t get me wrong, copy as much as you can, for friends and family! Spread our music if you like to, but visit us live sometimes too, write down your messages in our guestbook. We love to know who’s out there.
We also are thinking about a pre order vinyl album with some rare and personal give away’s like a personal package which makes it more special to buy the original. I mean to say that I am a vinyl collector, I buy vinyl and I download music for my I-pod, I’m no longer interested in impersonal cd’s flying around in my car. I can imagine that a lot of people think the same way. If you have any suggestions, just let us know. Dead Guitars will be performing one more show this year in Mönchengladbach on the 21st of November. We hope to see some old and some new friends out there, we’ll make it special again :-) I promise!
I’m also working with Rob & Frank in Spain to record and work out some new tracks. We have already a new White Rose Transmission album ready and the process was fantastic, but unreleased yet...sadly, who knows. Anyway, we’ll have a great time in Spain, that’s for sure! I’ll keep you updated.
The Convent might perform in Roma-Italy at the 19th of December. I’s not 100% confirmed yet but we’ve been asked to play there and we would love to do that. Keep an eye on our page, we’ll let you know. www.myspace.com/theconvent
I am also working out some songs with Thomas from Aestrid who’s a close friend of mine and our first try-outs were magic!
I’ve finished my coffee, the demo’s set on repeat...I have to go to work soon, but I am happy that I’ve written to you and I wish you a all wonderful time, wherever you are...
Love & whatever......Carlo

a look at here.
Here`s a Dead Guitars Review in UK Sphere Magazin.
For more reviews & interviews in english, dutch & german please go to the ARCHIVE.
Not so happy stuff:
As some of you may of noticed recently, 2 shows in Germany-Krefeld & Dortmund were cancelled or postponed at rather short notice. We`re really sorry for any inconveniences that may have occurred. The reason being that these shows were originally planned with Wayne Hussey on board. Unfortunately Wayne had to postpone his trip here to Europe due to reasons beyond his control.
More happy stuff:
We are hoping he`ll join the Deadies for a few shows sometime in the future and we`ll let you know as soon as we have news on that. Wayne has a wonderful solo album out called "Bare" - www.waynehussey.de & and The Mission have a great live DVD set from their final chapter tour, both of which I strongly recommend - www.themissionuk.com
Ok that’s it for now. Please don’t hesitate to drop me a line if you have any queries, complaints, love or hate mail etc...
Hope to be seeing you out there sometime , somewhere...
Untill then all the best.

Dear friends,
we are happy to announce that on the day of our official German release of the new "Flags" album 20th March 2009 we will be performing in our home town Moenchengladbach.
It’s become quite a special occasion performing at our home base, one that we are growing rather fond of.
We also feel very proud to present our friends and special guests Markus Tuerk & Georg Sehrbrock who performed so touchingly on the "Flags" album. They will be starting off the evening with their own set and will hopefully join us on stage later for a song or two. So it should turn out to be quite an eventful evening including an after show release party. A new club location for us in the "Altstadt" area of Moenchengladbach:
20 Mar 2009 Spielplatz – Aachenerstr.17, Moenchengladbach
Doors 20:30 – Showtime: 21:30
Tickets via Online Shop
A week later we have 2 further shows we are really looking forward to with The Convent one of Carlo van Putten’s great bands from the 80`s:
27 Mar 2009 Kir - Hamburg/ The Convent & Dead Guitars
28 Mar 2009 Tower - Bremen/ Dead Guitars & The Convent
Then it’s off to the Netherlands in April to start off a short tour:

> see TOUR for details
As some of you may already know, rumours have it that we`ll have a very special guest on board who will quite likely join the Dead Guitars as guitarist/piano player and vocals for a few shows in this tour period. (24th Apr – 10th May 2009) We`ll let you know as soon as and if we have confirmation on this.

We were thrilled to be invited up on stage for an accoustic set with The Mission's one and only Wayne Hussey whilst in Bochum on his solo tour last month… believe me, it was an absolute honour and a most pleasurable & memorable evening. So if you want...you can watch a video excerpt of that evening "Butterfly On A Wheel" – The Missions 90's chart hit HERE.
also "Isolation" from the Dead Guitars Flags album HERE.
Hope you enjoy it.

Dearest friends,
Was it a long time ago before I wrote to you, or is it just my imagination?
I've had some heavy & busy months. Ask me about what happens and I'll answer ;-)
After the summer vacation, Willemijn & I moved houses. We bought a wonderful "castle" down here in Utrecht. We both love the place very much. It's build in the thirties and it has a great atmosphere, several rooms and a wonderful small garden. But it was also a lot of work to do and carton boxes to move. Didn't realize I still had so many books & stuff. To move the record collection was the worst, they were so heavy…I tell you! J We finished the Dead Guitars album "Flags" and we are all really proud about the result. Wayne, Mark and Rich all did a song on the album and I'm really happy with what came out of that. Wayne's voice is excellent on "Isolation" and those of you who were in Bochum know where I'm talking about. Wayne invited us to come over and do some songs together. We had a great night there. It was good to do something together after the farewell tour with the Mission. The reason that the whole band wasn't involved is about the fact that Wayne asked to bring the guitars in for a jam and played an acoustic set by himself, so we had to let drums & bass out.
During my last vacation I was quiet worried because the doctor found a cist inside my breast which had to be removed. It was so bizarre to go for a breast cancer research inside the cancer centre of the Utrecht hospital. I'm still wondering why they call it "cancer centre" and not "research centre" It makes you feel less ill anyway. I mean they found out that it wasn't cancer and removed the cist out of my breast, but when I left I didn't want to jump around and show my happiness about the result, because some of the patients in there might have not be so lucky at all. There was a weird moral line inside me between sadness & happiness.
Back at school I organized an open stage, I do that every year and it's fun. My students (aged between 13-17) can show their talent on stage in front of an audience of friends and family. It's fun to see how much they enjoy that and how excited they are to sing, dance and play. The winners will work in a studio of a friend of mine and get their song on cd, mixed and produced by him.
Last weekend I went in the "wisseloord studio" in Hilversum to record the new White Rose Transmission album. We haven't found a label yet, but who knows, we'll see what happens. Rob Keijzer & Frank Weijzig worked hard and made some really wonderful songs. We had a great weekend mixing the new tracks. It would have been great to have mark around, but he was in Atlanta with The Sun & the Moon. Somehow I always feel better if my big brother keeps an eye over my shoulder ;-) But sometimes I have to do things on my own and learn to swim I suppose eh…
So as you might notice… I'm still alive, not hanging out in the street, having a good time and celebrate life. Thank you all for your warm words, your support and your precious time, wherever you are now. I wish you all a great and wonderful wintertime...
Luvvvvv & snowflakes

Peter Brough about the new DG album FLAGS
September 6th, 2008
Hello boys and girls,
it's been a long time since I've written a few lines to you so here we go.
After a most amazing european tour with "The Mission" last Feb we got back home only to fall into the inevitable vacuum or post tour depression phase which lasted a couple of weeks..........having recovered from that we immediately proceeded to embark on the production of our next album "Flags". Thanks to our friend + sound engineer Rainer Assmann he provided his recording equipment so that we could work in our own enviroment. That was last April. Now we have finalized the mixing and are waiting for the finished mastered version.
i can tell you that this album will be quite different to the first one "Airplanes" in that we took more risks and experimented a little more. Thanks to Ralf Aussems' wizardry and engouragement we broke through some chains and you'll find the second half of the album more edgey and hippyesque (iff you'll excuse the phrase)
We are all thoroughly thrilled by the kindness and support "THE MISSION" lads have lent us by their cooperation on 3 of the songs. To start off with the one and only WAYNE HUSSEY sings (as only he can) with CARLO on "Isolation". MARK GEMINI THWAITE lends his wonderfully unique guitar riffs and solos to "Pristine".And RICHIE VERNON lays down a gorgeous bass tapestry on "Blue":..............Thankyou guys, we are immencely chuffed.....
Anyway more details on that later.
The FLAGS album will be available exclusively at our next gig in Moenchengladbach-Galerie Cafe' Message on the 17th October 08, so get there if you can. More gigs to be announced.
it's nice to be talking to you again.I'll be back soon.
loads of love
